One day in February it was unseasonably warm, so my friend Lucy and I put on our purple tutus (and I donned my princess crown) and headed to the park.
The mud from the snow melt in the baseball field was pretty awesome. (Yes, we were blatantly violating the posted sign, but girls in tutus make their own rules.)
Then our friend Scarlet showed up and it got even more fun. We built a mudcastle with "water-mud."
I got the creative idea to rub mud all over my friends' and my faces.
It gave me that "tough-girl" look I was after.
Then our mommies wiped us up and we had a snack.
The next day we made painted flags from paper-birch bark.
